Château Montrose is regarded as on of the best producers in the Saint-Estèphe commune of the Médoc, Bordeaux. In the 1855 Classification of Bordeaux, it was ranked as a second growth. Within the second growth category, it is regarded as one of the best producers. The estate's Grand Vin is a blend of Cab Sav and Merlot. The estate also producers a second wine, the La Dame de Montrose. as well as a third wine, Saint-Estèphe de Château Montrose.

Produced on the exceptional terroir of Château Montrose and made in the château’s winery, Saint-Estèphe de Montrose is the estate’s third wine, blended from wines from younger vines and lees wines. Previously available only to the estate’s owners and employees, it meets the same uncompromising quality standards as Château Montrose and La Dame de Montrose. From a terroir of gravel over clay subsoil and matured for 12 months with 15% new oak, the wine is a typical Bordeaux blend and may be enjoyed when young.
